FUND PERFORMANCE ANALYSIS

Portfolio Fundraise Readiness

Fundraise planning happens one Founder conversation at a time. Here's how to use AI to see the whole portfolio's next-round picture and cross-reference against what founders are actually saying.

AI prompts for quarterly fund marks movers
  1. Score Every Portco on Next-Round Readiness

Every PortCo has two ongoing questions: could they raise their next round, and do they need to? A single scorecard combines runway and performance to answer both.

Prepare your data

Latest ARR, YoY growth, NDR, cash balance, quarterly burn per portco. Funding round history (round type, date, post-money) per PortCo.

Prompt

For each portco, build a next-round readiness scorecard row with: - Current stage and last round (type, date, post-money) - Months since last round - Runway in months (cash / quarterly burn × 3; ∞ if cash generative) - ARR, YoY growth, NDR - Play — classify each company: * Raise Now — urgent (runway ≤ 12 mo) AND ready (metrics support next-round mark) * Bridge — urgent AND not ready (metrics won't support a full next round) * Opportunistic — not urgent AND ready (raise off-cycle on strength) * Stay Put — recently raised OR metrics not there yet Readiness thresholds are stage-aware: a Series B → C candidate needs different signals than a seed → A. Sort by play severity (Raise Now first, then Bridge, Opportunistic, Stay Put).

  1. Reconcile the Plan with Recent Founder Statements

The scorecard says who could raise. The memo says what was originally planned. Recent board decks and founder updates say what's actually being discussed. The gaps between those three are where decisions need to be made.

Prepare your data

Original investment memo per portco. Last two to three board decks and CEO updates per portco (from PIQ document store).

Prompt

For each portco flagged in Step 1 as "Bridge", "Raise Now", or "Opportunistic", pull two pieces of qualitative evidence: - From the original investment memo — the raise timing and next-round conditions the memo laid out (quote or paraphrase, with date) - From the last 2–3 board decks and CEO updates — any mention of fundraise plans (quote with source and date) For each company, output an alignment tag: - On-plan — CEO signal matches the memo timeline - Ahead — raising sooner than the memo expected (usually strong metrics) - Behind — delaying vs. memo (metric shortfall, market timing, runway stretch) - Silent — no fundraise mention in recent materials Render each company as: original plan | recent signal | alignment tag | one-line verdict on what the partner should do. Do not draft outbound messaging. This is decision support for the partner, not communication.
